Seems that in these tough times, with jobs scarce, most places that are hiring are only hiring for part time. So, seeing as I'm just working part time right now, I have applied for a couple of other part time jobs, just checking around to see what I can find. Hope I don't get in over my head, I'm no spring chicken ya know, lol (I'm over 50......where is my walker?!), and I do take this heart medication and as a result I tire really easily (would like to get off the med so I may have to talk to my cardiologist about that) . :( But, I figured if I could maybe find another part time job that was only a couple mornings a week, maybe I could hack it.

Anyone else out there work a couple part time jobs? I've always just worked 40 hours a week, one job.....so the idea of a couple jobs is sort of weird to me....lol. I guess the thing would be to get schedules that don't conflict, and schedules that aren't too crazy.

Your not old, its just that us older folks(Im not 50 yet ya old lady)seem to have it harder. No college training, ect, new world ways, mean people, younges that are rude(not our forum youngens)
I know a girl that leaves from the dog kennel, gets washed up, and off to her subway job.
Im actually thinking that if things dont pick up at the dog motel, Im going to try and get a job at a motel and clean rooms.
Dont need no edumacation for that..LOL

You aren't old! I've seen people younger than you who look older than you. Besides I'm older than you by a year or so and I'm not old............ok, well I try to convince myself of that anyway.

I have some friends with two or more part time jobs and the hardest part is juggling the hours. Some places will work with you though. Of course, most of us have horses to take care of, THAT can be a second job in itself.

I have done several part time jobs actually.

In my 20's I worked 8 -12 M - F at a bank and picked up evening hours at Wal-mart. Wal-mart didn't last so I worked at a restaurant bussing dishes and as Easter Bunny at the mall. (while continueing to work at the bank) I took some classes at the community college too since the bank paid for them.

I worked full time at Souvenir in the payroll department and counted money on weekends at the grocery store.

There are many many people in my area that work more than one job. People can't balance their budget or else they have recently taken pay cuts and have gotten part time second jobs because of that.

You can do it! My husband is leaving the class room this year after 35 years. He already has 4 part time jobs lined up and has an offer for a 5th! He's saying no to the 5th since I SAID NO TO THE 5th. I don't care if he has another but I don't like the place that offered him the job, he doesn't either. He'll be teaching classes to teachers, he'll be working at a resort making his own hrs since he'll be doing yard work, he'll be mentoring student teachers and he'll be helping at the stable some. Nothing is an 8 hr day and he can make his own hours on everything pretty much but some of the stable stuff like when they have a sale he has to be there for that but mostly it'll be when he feels like working.

Good luck!

Oh wow working at a resort would be so nice, I'd love to do that. I saw a few job openings for working at county parks, but unfortunately a lot of the skills that were required were more for men.....like operating machinery and stuff like that....lol. I did call about a part time job cleaning motel rooms at a nice Country Inn and Suites down the road, but I never heard back from them, yet.

LOL.....true.....I guess I'm not old.....we're as old as we feel....so in that case some days I'm 18 and other days I'm 81.....LOL. ;) So far work has been going better, and it actually sounds like I may be able to get a lot more hours in a couple of months, so I'm thinking this job may turn into full time sooner than I had thought. I'm still checking out other jobs tho, and found a few at the technical college in the office that sounds good.....so I picked up an application for those jobs....they are part time jobs, so I'll see what happens. :)
