How to Load Avatar and Signature Pictures

Having trouble uploading your avatar or signature picture? This thread is for you! :)

There are two ways to upload your avatar and both ways are very easy after you get the hang of them.

Option 1 for Uploading Avatars
Option 1 (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/option1.jpg) is entering a URL from another website that is the link to your desired avatar image.

First you need to go to your User CP, then look for Settings & Options (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/settingsoptions2.jpg) and beneath it are a few links, you want to click on Edit Avatar (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/editavatar.jpg). You should now be refreshed to a page that looks like this (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/editavatarsection.jpg). As you can see, the option your avatar settings are currently set to are Do not use an avatar (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/donotuseanavatar.jpg), obviously you do want to use an avatar so you need to select Use Custom Avatar (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/usecustomavatar.jpg). Now you need to copy the URL of your image from whatever site it is hosted at (Photobucket, TinyPic, ImageShack, Flickr, etc.) and paste it into the text box for Option 1. You now want to click Save Changes (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/yeahman2.jpg) and the page should automatically refresh and be displaying your avatar underneath where it says "Your Current Avatar," it should look something like this (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/currenavie.jpg) (of course with your avatar, not mine).

Option 2 for Uploading Avatars
Option 2 (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/option21.jpg) is uploading an image from your computer to use as your avatar.

First you need to go to your User CP, then look for Settings & Options (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/settingsoptions2.jpg) and beneath it are a few links, you want to click on Edit Avatar (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/editavatar.jpg). You should now be refreshed to a page that looks like this (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/editavatarsection.jpg). As you can see, the option your avatar settings are currently set to are Do not use an avatar (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/donotuseanavatar.jpg), obviously you do want to use an avatar so you need to select Use Custom Avatar (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/usecustomavatar.jpg). A separate window will pop open and you will then browse through your computer files and select the image you want as your avatar and click Open (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/open.jpg). That window will automatically close, there now should be some sort of URL in the Option 2 text box and you now need to click on Save Changes (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/savechanges2.jpg). The page should automatically refresh and be displaying your avatar underneath where it says "Your Current Avatar," it should look something like this (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/currenavie.jpg) (of course with your avatar, not mine).

The page shouldn't refresh, but if you scroll up to under the Edit Signature area there should be a code that looks like this: (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/sigpiccode.jpg) - you do not need to insert anything between that, leave it how it is, scroll down a little bit and click Save Signature (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/savsignature-1.jpg). Your page will refresh automatically and take you to the hompage of your User CP, but if you click on Edit Signature, your signature image should be below Preview, it should look something like this (http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/cloedoll/Other/sigpreview.jpg) (of course with your signature, not mine).

Ok, now don't roll your eyes. I am computer challenged. I don't know the difference between the avatar and signature. Both are pics? Is the avatar the pic on the left under our name? I may try to post an avatar if that is the case, after I print the simple instructions above. I told I was computer challenged...defecit...delayed...

Yes, the avatar is the one under your name on the left.

The signature is the one that some folk have at the bottom of all their posts, like luvs2 up there. :)

HELP!!!!!!! My siggy is tiny and so is my avatar what am i doing wrong followed instructions still lost lol. CrazyMandas not sure why im having problems either. Any help from the phenomanal washingtonbay or cloedoll would be greatly appreciated

Well, I was able to load that pic in and it didn't do that to me!

Sorry - I don't know why it did that to you!

I fixed the avatar, as you can see... I might say, if you have that picture in your avatar, you wouldn't necessarily want the same one in your signature. They'll both appear on every post.

If you need further help with signature, let me know - give it a try again :)
