My SO was watching Discovery Channel yesterday- they were talking about creatures like Bigfoot.

Supposedly, in the Florida Everglades, there has been a creature sighted that is about 8 feet tall, walks upright but runs on all fours, has a reddish black coat and tail, and white stripes down its back like a skunk! I guess it even smells like one, too!

Anyone else ever heard of such a thing?

No-never heard of one- but tell me more.

Gene says bigfoot smells like a dead man- and he can skunk you.

* Everyone knows there ain't no bigfoot- only bigfoot stories. *

I don't know much more, really- I'm going to do a search and see what comes up- could get interesting!

One theory is that man made chemicals being dumped in the Everglades may be causing mutations- who knows what else is out there?

Never heard of it. I have heard of a mutated fly boy buzzing around somewhere though.

Those myths are the weirdest things ever. Never heard of him but don't think I would want to come across it either

On monster quest I believe they said it was around 6-7 foot tall, reddish in color, but no mention of stripes. And of course its horrible odor for which it is named for. I forget what - but they said there were specific differences in all of the reportings that made this creature different than the big foot found further up north.

They were also showing photos taken in 2000 of it - and it looked sorta like an orangatange (sp?) but they had an expert look at it and she said it was not due to certain key features that were wrong.

That is all I remember.

Thanks Cat! I'm going to see what a Google search brings up- if anything!

Cat, I think I might have found one of those photos. Don't know where my SO's coming from on the stripes, but here's Wikipedia's info oon it.

The Long Walk, the True Story of a Trek to Freedom by Slavomir Rawicz by

He left the Soviet Union, walked south, across the Gobi Desert- and then saw bigfoot.

Teddy Roosevelt had a chapter about bigfoot in his book- then he became President- the chapter got removed -because - there ain't no bigfoot.

Only bigfoot stories...

I never knew that!

I guess we can now add the Skunk Ape to the list of growing bigfoot stories!
