So Pepper got his flea/tick treatment today at lunch time. After giving it time to dry (and watching him like a hawk so he wouldn't rub it all over the carpet) I let him out to get his back-scratching out of the way.

We were all at the table eating lunch, and laughing at how much he is getting into the whole grass-rolling jig. It was cute. The whole time I was thinking, "gosh I'm glad we've got thick grass out there; I would hate to have to bathe him right after putting his drops on him." After several rounds, he comes trotting up to the door with the happiest look, tongue hanging out, one floppy ear hanging. Cute!

Well, after being ignored while we ate, he disappeared again. A few minutes later he comes back to the door with the same exact expression, only now instead of snow-white he's- well:

"I'm ready to come back in, Mommy!"

"What!? You mean I can't come back in? Why not?"

(disclaimer, YES he does have pink skin around the white eye and YES, it gets irritated with grass, dust, and probably flea drops, etc..;) )

I just love my lil' guy so much. :D You can't tell as much in the pics, but every inch is at least a bit red.. in fact, when he first walked up we could still see the dust cloud around him.

Ssooo, does anyone know a good time frame for bathing after drops? Have they done their job already or should I try to hold off? I'm thinking so but have never heard for sure...

I had taken one outside, to see if it would show up better on camera. So weird how it doesn't really show up as well on there.. but a bit more than through the door:

lol He's a dirty boy ... you can really see the dirt on the cement around him but I can see it on him too lol he's just too cute. I'm not going to be any help on how soon you can bathe him. It will depend on the product you used. If you didn't tear up the packaging too much to read then I would try to check that.

I know with Frontline you have to wait 2 or 3 days before you bath them.

Silly dog...lol

They sell a special shampoo that you can use specifically when you do the drops. It doesn't remove the drops or anything. I can't remember what it's called. I had to buy it when I moved down here because the dogs were having fun rolling in cow poop so I had to wash them quite often and I use drops. It's sold at pet stores in the shampoo aisle. It's specifically for if you put the drops on it doesn't ruin it.

Huh. Thanks, maggie. I'll have to look into that. Thing is, I use an oatmeal shampoo on Pepper since he does have such sensitive skin. Thankfully the drops have never irritated him longer than the rolling period, but he does get dried out/itchy if I use the wrong shampoo. I figure the drops would probably bother him for less time than a constant flea collar would, and I don't care for collars anyway..
