I had the money and space to pick up all the unwanted horses i saw at auction tonight.

My sister and I decided to stop by the local horse auction just to see if, first they had a english saddles and 2nd to just browse throughthe horses. I fell for a HUGE Grace look alike gelding, untattood, had to be at least 17.2hhs and Sis estimated his age to be 7-10yrs old. Big old standy type head on him.
There was also a mini donkey there that was drawn to the kids and loved to snuggle, he kept trying to give me kisses. :D

the heartbreaker was there were at least 7-8 tb's there, all tattooed, ranging from 1yr-OLD! ;) the worst off was a very sorry looking stud in the way back (where they put the stallions) he was in poor condition and you could tell his mind was gone, he was weaving, pacing and he has so many scars on his face. Looked like he had bowed tendons in both front legs and dropped suspensories in back.
We were going to stay to see how much these horses went for until my Sis recongized a fairly well known kill-buyer in the area. His truck and trailer as well as his photo have been on several sites showing people who he is. After we saw him we had to leave. We didn't want to know which horses he was taking. I know in my heart that poor tb stallion was going to be one of them. :( He buys them up, transports them to Arizonia then brings them into Mexico since it is illegal to transport them straight from CA to Mexico.

So here I am nursing a soup (I am ill) and trying hard not to think too much about that poor tb stallion. If I had the means you bet I would have bought him, tried to rehab him and if he was beyond saving I would have puthim down peacefully.

I think I am going to start playing the lottery. Because You can BET your ponies I would use that money towards a rescue farm if I won. :D

After I got home I explained to Grace just how lucky she is to have a mom and auntie like myself and sister, because not many people in our area would put up with her constant injuries and attitude.

Ok done with my rant :D

When I go to the auction I only stay for the tack part and leave before they start on the horses. The first time I went I was so upset because I felt so bad for the poor horses. My friend always wants to go back into the holding area to look at the horses and I just can't do it because it is so upseting to see them. They always look so scared.

I went to one auction and it was traumatizing for me. I left in tears, and everyone was looking at me like I was insane. I noticed many of them were unwanted TB's and alot of Amish horses. It's heartbreaking. If I had the money I'd want to start up and OTTB farm. I'd love to retrain them and sell them as riding horses. So many of them get tossed away. :(

Awww man, I hope you feel better, I had the flu last week and it's still kicking my butt. Lots of people sick here.

Those auctions are heart-wrenching and terrible.....I can't go any more, it is so upsetting.....but I'm with you, I wish I could win a ton of money, I would love to start a rescue farm.
