Well, I took the day off and sat on the computer all day....but when Chy got out of school we headed out to the horses...

Most of the time my babys are pretty clean, but Dallas decided I needed more work....

They're all so cute! It just melts my heart everytime I see Chy with Joe. That horse just LOVES her. :)

She absolutely ADORES him! She will NOT let her brother ride him and insists on doing EVERYTHING with him. The only thing she can't so is lift the saddle. LOL

Last week I was helping my BO and when I went to get Joe, Chy had already got him, haltered him and tied him to the hitching post. He puts his head down for her so she can get the halter on! He won't do that for me!

I'm so glad Chy has found a new horse that she connects with so well! I was so worried about her after Ladybird's passing. Losing a connection like that can sometimes turn a kid off to horses! Misty did a good job taking care of her, and preparing her heart to accept Joe! Chy is such an amazing little girl! I have to tell you most kids I see and stories I hear really make me question if I ever want kids. But then I see your threads, and the pics of your kids, and it just makes me want that! Keep the pics coming, I just love watching you and your kids!

Awww....thanks AUEquine.... I am very proud of her. I was concerned that she may not get back into the horses like she was before. Missy is great, but Chy never really connected with her. She still loves Missy, but not like Joe.

For some reason it was love at first site for the two of them. Even though on their first meeting, she had problems riding him because the saddle was too big, her boots were falling off because she couldn't reach the stirrups and she was uncomfortable riding in front of all of us.

Originally the owner thought that Chy was not a good enough rider for Joe. Meaning she thought Joe would take advantage of her. So she decided not to lease him to us. Chy asked about Joe for 2 weeks. Even after going to look at other horses....when we would leave she would ask.. "What about Joe?" So, I sent the owner an e-mail asking how Joe was doing and she responded by telling us she changed her mind, she didn't like the other people that went to see him and that we could lease him for as long as we wanted.

So I did not tell Chy till the day he was delivered. Then when she found out he was at the barn she couldn't wait to get out there. And it's been that way ever since. She gets mad if I don't take her to see Joe. I try very hard to stay out of their way so Chy can have all the time with Joe. And I love the fact that he is only 5 yrs old! So they have many years to grow together!

She still talks about Ladybird and still cries once in awhile. But I assure her, we will NEVER forget Ladybird and we are getting decals for the trailer that say "LADYBIRD" since she is the reason we were looking for a big trailer in the first place! Our hearts and that trailer belong to Ladybird, but at least Joe has filled a void that needed to be attended to and given all of us a new begining.

I love seeing Chy and Joe pics! They've bonded so well. It's amazing how he seems to understand that Chy's not tall enough to halter him without help, yet won't do the same for you. I guess in his mind, he figures you can reach him anyway, so why bother?

Its probably because Joe is a gelding. My gelding is much more starved for attention and more affectionate than the mare is. He will love on anyone, while the mare is more standoffish.

My gelding now is very loving and ATTACHED to me and we are working on a stronger bond. He's still young and every once in a while looses his mind.

My old gelding was that way with me. Never cared for other horses and would protect HIS family!
This type of bond is truely awesome. Cherish it;)

I truely appreciate Joe coming into our lives! Especially for Cheyenne.

She and Ladybird had that "special" bond, but she also bonded to me as well. Joe is ALL for Cheyenne.

Cheyenne will be riding Joe in the gymkhana this weekend. Not for points....yet... but she will be doing the practice runs on him. This weekend will be a true test to see how he does in that enviroment. If he is as easy going there as he is at home... then he is worth his weight in gold! :)
