Update on Mr. Melee (9 Pictures)

Thought I'd update you guys-- its officially been a whole week since Melee came. All of the other horses besides Raen and Prodigy have been really mean to him.. they wouldnt let him get close to anyone and because of that I was having a hard time working on catching him(he was really hard to catch) and bonding with him. So since then my Mom and I moved him and Raen back up to the house pasture(earlier moved them behind the barn) and he has improved immensely! Before he was scared to come up to anyone and when you went near him he took off.. Now he's coming to you and stands for haltering!


This guy is such a sweetheart! I'm in love. He just needs tons of love and attention, I think he might've been handled pretty harshly before as he was headshy(still is a little) and if you don't dismount slowly he raises his head high and starts getting scared. Not to mention he was really scared earlier last week at the tiniest things. He's overall a really nervous guy, but he's really learning to trust.


My boyfriend, my friend, and I all went for a decently long ride on the road since its hunting season. It was my 3rd time on him but my 1st time outside of our small pasture.. he did amazing! No pictures unfortunately.


Anyway, after I got the saddle fitting pictures I played around with him. Turns out he knows how to ground tie. :) Here are some pictures.

I love this picture! It makes him look so disproportional but its soo cute. :D

The red stuff on his back leg is not blood. Its Scarlett & Bluekote. He got a scrap there(nothing major, but it was long) :)

o man I have so many things to say haha he is just gorgoues for one and second the ice blue looks amazing on him. he has one of the sweetest eyes I've seen. Some that remind me of my horses eye. He is just adorable! And lucky to have you now he must be so happy

He is a little chunky right now but for the most part his weight reflects his size pretty well IMO.. he looks small in these pictures but he's pretty big (to me.) I am going to work off the excess weight and if I have a problem next spring/summer with him I'll buy a grazing muzzle. :)

He does remind me a lot of Keidas! The structure and all.. you need more Keidas pictures to compare to. :D And you're welcome to make a siggy for me! Maybe by then I'll have more pictures. You should make it the color of his halter. :D

Also I love his tail too, it's actually pretty thin but it's both really blonde and really dark brown.

As for his breed I'm not sure, he isn't registered. On one of his vet papers it says Paint x Draft(informational huh?)

And I think light blue looks awesome on him too. I'm looking forward to getting my new saddle so I can take a picture of him all tacked up and pretty. :D

Ya know, when I got Myst, I thought she was fat, she was a little, but I had to learn that she will always be a big girl. I can feel her ribs, there is no fat on the top line of her neck, so I am happy. Took some getting used to her not being fat, its just her breeding.

I haven't rode him *too* much because I don't have anyone to ride with as of late(Been super busy so my boyfriend hasnt been able to come over) and my Mom wont let me ride him alone until I get some more miles on him and prove that he has a good head on his shoulders.

He's 7 and 15hh, but stocky stocky! Which one in your siggy is Myst?
