I applied to college last December and got into the program of my choice (cabinetry)-- or so I thought. So I clicked accept and I was told that I got in. I got a package, etc and then decided to try for a different program. So I cancelled my application for cabinetry and applied for a different program (construction) at the same college. A month later, I gave up and accepted cabinetry once again because I really wanted to get in. Was told-- once again -- that I was in. Applied for residence, etc and actually got accepted into residence. I have the forms sitting right in front of me. How is it that I got into residence, but maybe didn't get into the college itself?

Yesterday, I received a letter saying that the construction program was waitlisted. Funny, because I didn't accept the offer for construction. On the official application website, my only choice is cabinetry.

I called, emailed and left 5 voicemails. Nothing!! I'm so frustrated! I don't know if I'm in or not, and if I don't get on the waitlist for cabinetry (in case it's also waitlisted) then I'm not going to be going to college.

Does anyone have experience with applications? When I visited the college in April, a liason officer told me that more spots go out than what can be accepted. Is there any sort of hierarchy? For example, I applied in December and got notification in February. I still had the option to select it after I changed my mind.

I know this might be confusing, but any help would be awesome! :) Thanks, guys.

It sounds like you made enough changes of mind, that there's at least the potential of being on a few lists, or none at all, or mistakes being made. So I'd keep trying to get ahold of a person, and work it out.

Keep bugging them!!! I worked at small college for 2 yrs in the Financial Aid Dept. Our college would have been bending over backwards to contact you. It's strange they haven't gotten you all your info.

I called and they keep telling me that someone will call me back. :( It's the long weekend here, so I'm not terribly surprised.

Right now I'm thinking that it was a typo because both programs were (and are!) waitlisted. ACTUALLY Come to think of it... I never even got an offer of admission for the construction program but I did apply. Maybe they just sent me the letter to inform me that there was a wait for it. And in reality, I just haven't received any more information from them on my current choice.

I know I have a better chance because I applied before the deadline.

Yeah, at this point I'd assume nothing.

It's strange they haven't gotten you all your info. This is a pretty small college (maybe 2500 students, something like that.) I'm going to keep trying, but there's no point right now because it's a long weekend.

But really... I think I've figured it out. They were just informing me that there was a wait for the program I didn't get into (but my application to the program is still active.) :) Hopefully they'll understand! I need to figure out whether or not I've been accepted, anyway.

Yeah, at this point I'd assume nothing. Thanks for the reassurance! :)

I live in a university town that grows by 20,000 people between the months of September and May. It's insane! They had a huge office devoted to admissions and such.

Is the school close enough to drive there next week? If so, just go there, stand in the office and annoy the poo out of them until you get to speak to someone. And get it all in writing. Take notes and keep everything they give to you. Keep a list of names of everyone you speak to and what they told you.

If they don't have "time" for you, but won't give you a time when they do have time for you soon, then ask to speak to their boss, ask who the next person up in the heirarchy is - and talk to them. ;)
