Camping in Wisconsin - ideas please!

I posted this in the social group for MN & WI, but wanted to post here too for ideas.

This weekend my hubby wants to go camping WITHOUT the horses, but WITH the kids, our camper, and his parents. :eek: We live in Northwest WI, and my father in law doesn't want to go anymore North (too cold?:rolleyes:) so now I am in charge of trying to find a campground somewhere within 1-2 hours from home.

Any suggestions? Remali? Anything good around your area??

Willow River State Park... its a beautiful park with the river and a playground for the kids to I think... it is in Hudson, Wi

I maybe getting another horse so if you came down this way we could go riding :) hehe

Oh wow, let me think......I'm not sure what is open any more.....or do they even close? lol. But Coon Forks near Augusta is quite pretty, the lake there is real nice.

Aha! I even found a website for it! I have been there and rented the paddle boats, it's a gorgeous quiet lake. It looks like they do offer off-season camping there too.

Thanks Renee. After looking at the forecast, we have decided it's going to be too cold to do much with the kids except sit in the camper. :( SO we aren't going. But I'm saving all the spots mentioned for next year!! Thanks guys!

It's sure windy and gloomy out today...:( ...looks like it may be a wet weekend too.
But, Coon Forks is a really nice place, and the lake is beautiful, you should check it out next summer....they rent out paddle boats there (no motorized boats allowed on the lake, just canoes and etc.) And the camp sites looked very nice. The lake is surrounded by the forest and it's so pretty.
