Well Pearl is out of commision....

And we have been doing so well.....I go out this morning to get her and she is standing in the shade and a bit away from the horses no big deal then I get a call that I was needed at a friends house and I come back and Pearl is in the same spot and the other 3 were way off so something was up.....I went and look and Pearl was tangled in wire! Hubby is weedeating and getting closer and I yell STOP! Get her halter have hubby hold her while I snip the wire with some dikes....Her back right is a bit swollen but not significantly and she isn't limping yet....I caught her before it got much worse....I am so glad we taught her to hobble.....I don't know what I would have done or what the wound would have looked like if she was freaking out. And the scary part is it was bob wire. It was about 15' long and I have no idea where she got it from cause it was a loose strand....she was probably dragging it around for a while.....so she is on stall rest till this evening and no riding till I know she healed up....poor girl:(

Boy I've been there. . so glad it wasn't worse!! However lived on our property prior to us just abandoned old barbed wire all over the property. It's like a mine field for horses. . . we have to be REALLY careful when we expand their pasture. . and we need to get a large tractor in to dig up most of it. Frustrating!!!!

There is still a bit of swelling this morning but no heat and no limping....thank goodness.....she loves her cold hose downs though....especially in this heat
