View Full Version : Christmas - I can't decide what I want!

Ello everybody! I'll get right to it, for my Christmas/Birthday (my birthday is the day after Christmas) present I have the choice between a saddle or camera. As you guys know, I have no issues riding bareback and am riding both my horses bareback at the moment. I don't mind it, but a saddle is a nice thing to have. I love photography, but all I could take pictures of is my two horses - that's it pretty much. Is it worth getting a camera (Canon Digital Rebel, Nikon D40 - that range)? What would you do if you were me, ask for a camera or saddle?

So I don't sound like a spoiled brat, my parents offered to get me either a saddle or camera, I am not assuming they are getting it for me nor do I expect it just because they said they would. They said it is doable and they want me to let them know what I had in mind now, not later. =P

As always, thank you! I honestly can't remember if I have asked you guys this before...that's pretty sad considering I'm only fourteen! Bwahaha. My apologies if I have.

The saddle would be my choice. You can take pics with any camera. I know, some are better. But you cant ride just any saddle, nor have the right fit for your horse.
If my parents were paying, yup, Id go for the saddle.

Saddle for SURE!! You can always get a disposable cam, or a VERY inexpensive digital later- saddle is a big ticket item and I would definitley take advantage of the offer!!

Vick has a good point. I think I would go with saddle..especially if getting one to fit your horses would be a bit more costly.

That's tough. Personally I would take the saddle over the camera. You have many opportunities to buy a camera like the Nikon D40 online or in stores during sales, or when that model is "outdated." (although I don't think outdated happens as much with that type of camers) You don't have many opportunities to find awesome deals on a good saddle.

Just something to think about.

Thinking about it I think a saddle might be better since you can always just take pictures with your camcorder, and a saddle may benefit you along the lines.. Who knows. maybe next year you can get a Camera. :D

I would go with the saddle as well. A well fitting saddle will last you for years :)

well since my Birthday is the 28th of Dec. I know what your going through with the Christmas and Birthday presents being all rolled into one.
So I would ask for the Saddle for Christmas and the camera for your birthday.

wow your two day's older than me, and you look so young LOL :D

My vote would be for the saddle- it's not often a person gets a chance to get a quality well fitting saddle- it's a lot harder than getting a good camera!

Saddle!!
*pushes you back towards saddle*
:)
I think you should try it out with saddle again. Do you get money for your birthday? Or maybe you can ask other rellies to pitch in to a camera fund?

Well.I would love a newer ENGLISH saddle but I doubt that will happen. Honest, I hate to sound poor and all, but I'll probably pick up one of those buckets that hang on the fence. I will end up working Christmas AND NEW YEARS at a horse stable. More fun than the relatives but they don't let me ride their horses so its just work, work, work....but I could get a good start on the saddle with the extra paycheck!!

I NEED a camera too though, because I write for a magazine. Tough call!!! Keep riding bareback, who needs a dang saddle anyway, alls ya gotta do is clean them...

Hmm... that is kinda tough, but I'd say go for the most expensive one. And buy the other one with your own money. :p
