Just thought I'd come post a photo of my oldest cat. He was 18 years old and just not doing well. This is the first of my animals I've ever had to put to sleep like this. It's hard. I always knew it would be. . . hardest part of owning animals I think. They don't live long enough.

Thanks guys,
He had a hematoma in that ear that had to be surgically repaired. So he had a crook in his ears for the last 2 years. He was a handsome boy prior to that. I think the crooked ear was cute though.

Bud came to live with my cousin and her family when her daughter was very young. They had him until 2001, when they moved to Las Vegas and needed a place for him to stay for a while. . . He came to live with my husband then and they decided they'd just leave him with us instead of taking him with them. He loved my husband a bunch. They were roomies for a long time. Bud loved to sit and purr. He was a lot like a dog. When he was really happy his tail would 'wag' or rather flop about quickly. Most cats do that when they are angry, but Bud did it when he was content. He had issues with the litter box so for the last 2 years or so he's been a mostly outdoor kitty but he had a spot on the porch where we put a fan in the summer and a nice comfy bed. His food and water were right there beside him and in the winter we put up a heating lamp. Bud was the one kitty you could count on being out the front door whenever you needed some kitty love. We will miss him for that. My 3 year old is trying to figure it all out. Not sure at that age than can grasp forever yet.

I'm so sorry, he was a cutie, I love the little ear. It never gets any easier, I have put 6 animals to sleep now and it still hurts as bad as the first time. It's so hard. I lost my Noah 2 weeks ago tomorrow, had to have him put to sleep and my heart is ripped out. I really am sorry you are going through this, kitty is at peace, my Noah is at peace, now we have to find ours. Animals are great until we loose them then it's like the world is ending. Try to take care, I know it's not an easy thing ever.

I love his ear....gives him a very distinct look. I am sorry that he crossed the Rainbow Bridge. You are right when you said that our animals are not with long enough but I wouldn't trade my time with any of mine.
