When we lost our Noah I said no more dogs, I can't take it anymore. I lasted 2 weeks. This little girl needed a home, I've been wanting a Westie as a sibling for Noah for ages. Noah didn't want a sibling but now we have a Westie, she is a 6 month old rescue a puppy mill dog but they need homes too, the vet said she's very healthy, I hope she stays that way. She is a rip though, as my grandmother would say "A rip roarin Divil". She flew here from MO, she was on the wrong flight so we sat in Newark Airport from 5-11:30, we got home at 3. I thought she was lost and was a nervous wreck, I was so happy to see the crate. Now she screams and doesn't want to be in the crate, I've hardly slept. My friend has a friend who is a dog trainer so she's supposed to help me with her. I'm really too old for this. I was hoping for an older dog but they just aren't available, well small ones aren't in this area and I wanted something small because when Noah got sick I couldn't pick him up and that broke my heart. I feel like I'm betraying him but my man was wanting another dog ASAP so here she is. We checked all of our local shelters for anything small but it seemed they all had big dogs, I love big dogs but not at this stage in my life when I can't pick them up if they need help. Here is Deanna Smith. First Two are from the rescue the others are meeting the boys and in her stroller She's going to a horse show today, she loved the boys they love her. The cats hate her. I hope they ajust soon.

Oh is Deanna ever adorable! Don't feel bad, you are not betraying Noah at all.....but I do know how you feel....
getting another pet helped me over my loss when I lost my first rabbit Bun Bun (I ended up getting Ebony), but I felt a bit bad about getting another one.....altho I have to say Ebony really helped me to feel better and I know your new little girl will help you feel better too.

A friend of mine has a Westie, they're really neat little dogs, I'm so glad you got her!

Thanks everyone, she is a little terror. It's like we take a step forward and go back two and she's only been here since Thursday! She HATES the crate, everyone says dogs love crates, mine never did. She loved the horse show, she got kissed by a big horsey and wanted to be in the ring with the horses. She was good, she was a little antsy at the end, I think she was tired, when we got to the car I put her in her crate and she went right to sleep. She had a good time and everyone was fussing over her. I just hope that I can train her so she's a good girl. Petra has been a huge help and it this dog trainer comes maybe she can see what I'm doing wrong if I'm doing something wrong. I guess I'm just used to Noah who was so obedient once he hit a yr old [He was a terror too as a puppy] I just got used to a dog that listens all the time. She does come when I call, at least today, tomorrow might be a different story, yesterday and this a.m. she was walking perfectly on the leash, now she wants to lay down and not walk. She learned to sit today, we'll see if she remembers tomorrow! She is so precious though, she's so cuddly and that's probably one thing I'm doing wrong is cuddling her too much. I hope I survive this!

Thank you! She is cute but a handfull! She at least has brought some laughter back into the house, I still cry but at least she makes me laugh too. I think Noah brought her to me. Stuff has been happening that is just too weird, I know alot of people don't believe in the Woo Woo stuff but what are the chances of sitting in the airport with a woman who's grandson is named Noah on the night we are picking up Deanna? Of all the people and all the names???? There's been other stuff too. I just hope she'll learn to listen!!!! She was so good at the show yesterday, she's wiped out today though, I think it was a tiring day for her especially so close to traveling to the vet and the whole airport fiasco, not sure why they put her on a later flight, that was so scary but seeing her little happy face when she saw us, she was so excited, it made all those hrs sitting there seem worth it. I just love her so much, we both do and my mother is the biggest surprise, she loves her and she never loves any dog, I knew my father would love her but my mother shocked me!!!! Deanna wants to know if Grady wants to be her boyfriend?!

Oh she sounds like a stinker! That is great your mother loves her already....definitely a very good sign!
And that is really interesting about the boy at the airport named Noah!

We had the dog trainer here yesterday and she said she's too smart, we have to keep her busy or she'll really be in trouble trying to find ways to keep herself busy. When I had my other Westie I used to call her the little Terror and this one isn't any different, I always loved the terrier attitude but yet I loved my Noah's loyalty and how he read my moods so well. One rescue had a dog that looked exactly liked Noah, I couldn't do it though, it wouldn't be fair to the dog comparing it to Noah all the time so I thought we needed something totally different if we got another dog.

Puppies are cute but exhausting! We thought she caught on to the housebreaking thing, ringing the bell when she wanted to go out. She was doing great at it last night but this a.m. she didn't ring the bell, I had her out for awhile then she went on the floor, I should have put her right in the crate when we first came in but it was time for her to eat so I was going to feed her then put her in the crate. I wasn't fast enough!

2 of the cats have come around, Molly now wants her to chase her then when she does Molly hisses and paws at her so she gets scared which is good. Last night she got caught between Bo and Molly and didn't know what to do. I'd rather have her scared of them. If only Jack would come around. He was sort of walking towards the screen I have dividing the rooms but when Deanna jumped Jack took off. He's the one most used to dogs I thought he'd be OK.

She did learn to sit really nice from the trainer, we got lots of good advise too. She can read dogs like my trainer friend reads horses. Hopefully she'll be a well ajusted terror! She is funny.

Remali I know when that lady started talking about their Noah I wasn't sure if I was hearing right then she said his name a few times. It was so strange of all the people we could have shared a table with and then for them to be talking about Noah it just sort of gave me chills. Most people just think it's a coincidence and it might be but I'm always looking for signs and meant to be stuff.

Grady would love to have Deanna as his girl. :)

I am sure she will catch on to the bell soon. It just takes a little time and keep reminding her. I am thinking of trying the bell for my Boxers. They go to the door but don't make a peep so if I am not right there and see them the female Mileena will potty on the spot  but my male Murdoc will hold it and run to me and run back to the door. Grady has his own little doggie door out to his own private fenced in potty yard. He isn't spoiled. ;)

I'm always looking for signs too, so I sure know what you mean......and I really do believe in things like that.

After my mother passed away, I swear that almost everywhere I went for a time I heard people saying her name in conversation (like the person they were talking to had the same name as my mother's, and she had a very uncommon name so it shocked me), or I'd pick up an item at a shop and it would have her name on it....it was really bizarre, I took it to mean something, as if she was watching over me and wanted me to know.

Aw hon, you are not betraying Noah, he would of wanted you to carry on and be happy with another dog.
Noah will watch out over your new charge, wild as she may be.
Deanna is very cute, and knowing terriers, you just need to be patient, she will come around, shes still a pup.
She will keep you on your toes as Tex does me, and you will love those special funny moments.
You are NOT to old my dear. Enjoy her and know Noah is smiling down on you.

Aww, she is adorable. I knew it wouldn't be long...hang in there. Puppy hood can be a bit rough at times, but its tons of fun too. She'll definitely be keeping you busy and in tears from laughing at her many antics in the weeks and months to come. Enjoy her!
