I feel like the exasperated mother of a child that keeps bringing home abandoned kittens and other wildlife. Today my mom left the house to go for a hike with a friend.
She came home with an owl with a broken wing. Apparently they couldn't find anyone to take him, so they brought him home. Now he's living in our garage and I've been charged with the task of finding some possible wildlife rehab places to take him. I'm going to see if I can get some batteries for my camera and take some pics.

Sorry no pics! My mom just left with the owl and I didn't have time to find camera batteries and get out there before she left.

Too bad you can't mail an owl - I've got a wildlife rehab place that specializes in birds just down the street from me! :)

No. We don't know what kind of owl it was. I'm thinking about looking up some online to see if I can figure it out. Wish I coulda gotten a pic. She took it to a rehab place that specializes in falcons, but also takes owls apparently. :)

Maybe the rehab place will tell your mom what it is and you can look it up and show us a picture of an owl "like" it.

I asked her if she could out what kind of owl it was. She said it was a Barred owl. So it looked like... this:
