So Ive been getting some really nice Alf/grass mix from this guy for awhile.
Last time I got some, I asked him about returning a bale, he said sure, that he guarantees his hay. Its really good stuff.
Down to the last 4 bales and noticing when I open them they are grassy and has some mold on them. Returning them should NOT be an issue.
I asked Bob to call him today so we can get hay, down to 1 grassy bale, no alf in it, and need to replace 2 bales of grassy hay with some mold.
He tells Bob, come at 530, then he says, if you dont like the quality of the hay you can get it some where else.
I dont care how nice you say that, you do NOT say something like that to a customer.

FYI, they guy has LOADS of hay, is not having an issue with who gets how much from him, and he is still gonna have to bale soon I am sure. His problem where to put it, not mine.

He just lost a customer with the remark he said to Bob.

I sure did like his hay though.
There are way to many fields haying right now, so Im sure I can get hay about anywhere.
Stopped at a guys house on the way home, got 4 bales of Brome to tide me over until I can find some better stuff. I like Brome, but it wasnt the greatest quality. The horses will do fine on it. I think Im more finiky than the horses...lol

All the best hay comes from nutty farmers. :D In my experience anyways. Our family got our AMAZING grass hay from this little tiny weirdo guy. His fields are very old, so the grass is really established. It has just a touch of alfalfa too. *kisses fingers* It's PERFECTO!! He may be crazy, but I sure do love his hay. I don't know if my parents still use him, but when we had horses we got a bunch from him.

I can deal with crazy, but this guy is a banker, big shot and not crazy. I can deal with weirdos, but dont be rude. He was on the verge of it last time, but I didnt call him on it.
Bob is gonna call him and handle it so IF we need hay from him at a later date we can get it.

It might be your hay storage area. I am down to my last 4 bales and even though I had them on pallets they are kind of moldy. But they have also been in the building for 6 months and there isn't much ventilation. I just put the hay in my garden and call it mulch. Or give it to the dog and she uses it for bedding.

Nope, nothing to do with the storage. I buy 10 bales from this guy at a time.

Also, my storage has NOTHING to do with this guy being a jerk.

10 bales at a time sounds like a lot of work. I hope he's conveniently located...

I have 17 acres in hay which I rent to a hay guy & then buy from him if I like it. The first few years the guy I used always baled too wet. After many fights where he said he was sick of horse women being so fussy & I said something worse back to him, I quit using MY OWN HAY. I had a 7 year contract with him but a letter from a lawyer ended that. He did call to ask what was going on & I told him to take me to court but he was not doing my fields anymore. He had just replanted 3/4 of it too! He was mad, I was glad.
I now have a great guy & perfect hay.

Don't mess with fussy horse women, hay guys.:nono:
