So, when I first got Dakota I thought for sure this was a MALE. Two distinct holes, no apparent line in-between. Now I'm not so sure. The more I look the more I think maybe he is a she. His/her bottom is white, but there is a black marking over where the vulva would be. It makes it extremely hard to tell. So, I made up a little video to see if anyone else could tell.
Here's some pictures. They all turned out blurry or bleached out. Not much help...

Our Pippin was a she for the first two vet visits, and actually almost made it to the table to be spayed, before he was deciphered to be a male.
And that's with two vets looking at him.
So it can be really hard to tell at this age, will be make itself apparent as he/she/it grows up. :)

What a lil cutie!!!
Im guessing a boy. Keep an eye on that black mark, between his butt hole and wohoo. They look like if it is a he, that is where his tuffs will be.

Guess I'll have to go with everyone else's theory on your kitten being a male. Here's a good written explanation of what we should see, lol!

Definitely looks to be a boy to me as well. His "hose" area is farther away from his "chute". A female would be closer. A boy looks like a colon ( : ) a girl more like an upside down exclamation point (!) *just flip it!*. You can also faintly see his *uhum* marbles as was pointed out earlier, or rather where they will be.
edited because apparently when you type : ) without the space it pops a smiley up instead.

I've raised over 200 kittens, if that's not a boy I should be shot. :D

Oh, good. I was counting on it being a boy, cause it's cheaper to fix them. :) You should see the little guy getting along so well with our older female cat. This other cat was always the bully with my mom's cat, but she is being very sweet and patient with the kitten.
On a side note: Do female/male kittens squat differently when they pee??

Not while they are little. When the male grows up and starts to "spray" to mark his territory it's different.

Except females can mark territory, too! I guess I named my calico, Taz, right! She lifts her leg and sprays on the truck tire!:hysterical:

My male was thought to be a female....and then it turned out he was cryptorchid. It was really hard to tell though - even my vet had a difficult time. But it sounds like everyone's pretty sure your's is a boy. :)
Petra - that pic is hysterical. Yes....in a 13 year old boyish way. LOL!!! But I got a good chuckle out of it. :D

So the earlier I spay him the less likely he is to develop the spraying habits??

You may have to wait a little until he is old enough for spaying. My vet doesn't do it until they are 6 months old. Check with your vet when it's a good time.

I thought it was 6 months too, but the Humane Society wants them done as early as 6 weeks. Which seems extreme to me. I was thinking maybe 4-5 months to insure we catch him before he develops any adult behaviors such as spraying.

He will not be spraying at 6 months. Don't worry.

Did it quit after he was fixed?

We used to get ours done about 3 months. Since I moved down here all the clinics require the kittens to be 6 months old. So we had to wait with our two current kittens. And then our female went into heat and we had to keep her locked in the house and she got blood all over everything. It was not fun.

If I decide to declaw at the same time is there a prime time for that to get done?
