This is kind of adding on to this (http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/showthread.php?t=693) thread. I completely forgot about this until now, but this morning another odd thing happened. The horses are in one pasture at the moment, there are two gates to two other paddocks as well (the gate for these paddocks are two electrical wires, I don't know how to describe it, but they're rope electric wire things that you un-hook and re-hook...simple as that) and the barn is their shelter. The gates for the paddocks are closed, though. Last night I fed the horses, both of them were eating hay in the barn when I left (again, paddock gates closed). I come outside this morning to find that Keidas (just Keidas) is inside the one paddocks, laying down (sleeping) and the gate is closed. Hmm, okay then! How strange is this?

Someone is messing with you. I'd be worried. Could Keidas have jumped the fence?

cloedoll
10-20-2008, 08:39 PM
LOL, no way, no how could he have jumped it. On top of that, there is just no need for him to jump the fence, he is never overly interested in the paddocks and I don't see what would motivate him to jump it...=p

ETA: I hope that didn't sound rude, I wasn't trying to be! I promise. xD There is just no chance he jumped it

Of course it didn't sound rude!! I'm know you're aren't a rude person! ;) And I was joking about him jumping it. I'm with you. It's very weird! I hope you can figure it out soon!

This is getting interestinger and interestinger! Is that a word?

How can you tell definitively if there is someone getting in there? I mean... it's too serious a question to just wonder about.

I'd be upping the fencing and gating the driveway. I'm locked in my compound here all the time.

Equine_Woman -- Hehe, goodie. =) I would say Cloe would jump it, but obviously this is Keidas, hmm.

Gypsy Rose -- We'll make it a word! =D

WBay -- I really dunno, I dunno what it is, if it's me sleepwalking, if it's someone or what..

WashingtonBay

Okay, then put a tape (or tape a string) across your door when you go to bed, so you can tell if you've left your room at night. - Do it to the outside doors too!

cloedoll
10-20-2008, 09:07 PM
I sleep in the living room, I *could* sleep in my bedroom, but I hate it. I am an odd, odd child. =P So, I'll put tape across the outside doors this time! =D. Of course the first time this 'odd' thing happened the door was unlocked, then I locked it for a few days, and last night was the first night I un-locked it and something happens! Go figure. Maybe it is me and I know it's unlocked, who knows. I need that door alarm for myself, that would wake me up if it was me! Bwahaha.

WashingtonBay
10-20-2008, 09:12 PM
Well yeah - the door alarm would tell you!

cloedoll
10-20-2008, 09:13 PM
Lol, for sure. =P My parents aren't taking this too seriously, though. After I brought up the possibility it could be me sleepwalking, that was their answer...they're not too concerned anymore. =/

Nevermind, heh. =P

Hey - I saw your post and logged back in! I was just heading off to hit the bed and thought I'd hit refresh one last time!

I dunno! They're nice pics, but I do so love the one you have now.

I'm not good at change, I like the familiar. Notice I changed mine back to what I started with. I didn't like the change.

So I'm not a good one to ask. :D

Did you put the strings on the doors?

Did you put the strings on the doors?

No, I wanted to let my parents know what I was doing (they would have gotten mad if not), but it was around 2AM before I realized I should put the strings or tape up and they don't like to be woken up at 2AM, haha. I'll try tonight, but this is just getting ridiculous.

I LOVE this avatar--it's the most awesome pic of Bay! Ditto, he looks stunning!

I think the strings will let you know if it's you or not. If it's not, I would try the montiors again.

OR.. if there was some way to set up a videocamera to record for the night... that way you could see if it's you.. someone else, etc. then if it is someone else.. you have proof and can go to the police.

rums_mom
10-21-2008, 08:53 AM
I like Mollies idea. Flour on the floor should would let you know if it was you, you would have your proof. Kind of messy but you would know for sure where you were going. And I would keep those doors locked at night.

Weirdd... =0 I would be freaked out, but if you were asleep - why only Keidas? and not cloe too?

WashingtonBay
10-21-2008, 10:47 AM
I think the flour is an interesting idea!

I wouldn't think even finding out it's you would mean it's no big deal... I still don't want you out there in your jammies moving horses around in the night.

10-21-2008, 10:49 AM
Yeah its wierd. I dont like it one bit -

Where's Rum's dog at a time like this?

One could put flour outside the house also.
Inside the house might get momma a bit mad?

mandisue

I like fortunes idea, put a video camera out at the barn in an inconspicuous spot overnight and see what happens, point it at the gate where Keidas is getting moved into.

Jump The Moon
10-21-2008, 10:57 AM
Yeah lol, my mamma wouldn't be too happy to find flour everywhere inside the house lol.

Caitlin is a zombie!!! http://bestsmileys.com/aliens/2.gif lol
Flour is as good idea as is string or tape, maybe you could put some bubble wrap on the floor so if you do get up it would make noise.

Keidas was in his paddock AGAIN this morning.

Weird..You really need to figure out if its you or someone else. I would be sure to keep all doors locked and try tap on the doors or one of those door alarms. A camera would be great. My husband ordered one off of the internet that wasn't to pricey. He uses it to watch deer out at his feeders. If its you sleepwalking I would be worried you might do some thing to get yourself hurt. If its some one else that is scary to. Please just be careful

My mom refuses to buy a camera or anything, rawr. Doors are always locked, umm yeah...I would love to know what's up, too!

Do you think your sister might be messing with you? Sounds like something my older sister would have done to me ;) She loved messin with me

Nope, definitely not my sister, I'm more than sure, lol.

I know its' cold out right now or I'd suggest a campout in a stall for the night, but what about getting someones game camera? They take pictures with movement. So if you set it in line with keidas's new night time hot spot it would take a pic everytime something moved?

Horseless doesn't live near you, does he? ;) j/k

I could just see him moving Keidas at night, and giggling (manly giggling, of course) over his coffee each morning while checking this thread. :hysterical:

Seriously though, I'm hooked! You've got to figure this out!

I still say find a hunter in the family and get a game camera from them.

KittySawrus
10-23-2008, 12:47 PM
o_o if I'm honest, this thread is really weirding me out! I'd be scared!
I'd say try a motion-activated light, but that'd be daft cuz horses move around all the time...
I think I'd end up camping out, with a hot water bottle, or 10, and some of those clicky-handwarmer things.
I hope you get to the bottom of this soon!

Is Keidas letting himself out? Just wondering...because one horse at our barn put himself in his pasture one night! (Not kidding!) We have the same electric wire/tape thing you do for a gate. The horse opened his stall door with his mouth and jumped over the little gate into his pasture. xD It was rather hilarious.

I really hope it's nothing serious. I would def try the tape on your door thing. :)

carla
10-23-2008, 12:57 PM
I just keep wondering- if Caitlin were in fact sleepwalking, I would be very interested to see how a horse would react to someone in that state. Even- or especially- someone they're very familiar with, kwim? It just seems like they, especially, would sense that something is off and be a little "weirded out" by it.

KittySawrus
10-23-2008, 01:09 PM
Ooh, that /would/ be weird.

Now, Caitlin, you'll have to attach a camera with a geet waz memory card in it to your head to see if you do anything during the night :P

FredRock
10-23-2008, 01:20 PM
Hey, how's the gate set up? They're just the two strings of electric tape? Are they electrified?

Just wondering, because I know a horse that was as big as a draft that would crawl under a low rope to get inside the barn and eat everyone's food. I didn't believe it one bit when the BO told me, but then he did it right in front of me and I was like: :jawdrop: It was a sight to be seen. There was also some miniature horses that figured out how to "fall" through the fence, and broke out when no one was watching. Then a Haflinger stepped through strands of a tinself type of wire to get to grass (Or somehow got out; we never really figured out how he was the only one of 5 horses to get out of a pasture that had a closed metal gate.)

Maybe he's letting himself out?

cloedoll
10-23-2008, 01:43 PM
Whoa, haven't checked this thread in a wee bit. FredRock, you have it right, two electrical ropes (that are on all the time). I still dunno how this is happening, lmbo.

Mandzanita
10-23-2008, 02:28 PM
I keep comming back to the string! :) Haha, I won't shut up till you try it! I'd do one on your front door after you've gone to sleep and then put one on the gate in the barn. That's an easy way to find out if it's you or if someone else is doing it. If both strings are still intact when you wake up and he is out in the paddock then he learned to fly....if the gate string is broken and your front door is intact...it's someone from the "outside" and we should all be freakin out, both strings are broken then it's you in zombie mode :)

Do it!! :)

I like the game camera idea!! That'd catch it!! Did Keidas end up in the other pasture again last night?
