Finally one of our goats has had a proper, middle of the night delivery. . .Lele who is still a baby in my eyes had her first little baby tonight. This one is smaller than our 6 week old kittens. . .Tiny. Lele isn't quite sure what to do with the baby yet, she is having trouble with the afterbirth. . .I'm hoping all is going to be okay but I'm up debating what to do with them for the rest of the night. . our heat lamp is out and it's a bit chilly . . my husband is outside sitting with them now. ..

So everyone pray that Lele's baby makes it through the night and that Lele is truly just struggling with the afterbirth and there isn't another baby in there stuck. . I can't go through another c-section. .and I don't want to bottle feed another baby. . I'll get pictures and post them in the morning. . .

If you're promising to post pics, I guess we don't really need this, but I'm going to do it anyway, since I seldom get to use it:

Well we're back from the vet. Lele was in labor all night, last baby was finally delivered about 9:30 at the vets. . it didn't make it of course. So we had her x-rayed, no more in there. Hopefully now Lele will focus on her live baby and they can figure out this nursing business!! The new baby looks EXACTLY like her Momma color wise. Cute cute cute. Smaller than our 6 week old kittens. Not sure if she's going to make it but she's tough right now. Hasn't nursed yet I don't think but I could be wrong. We've set them up in the horse trailer with some nice comfy shavings and an all you can eat buffet. . . I've got pics. I'll be back to post them. None of them are with my good camera so they aren't good. . but they'll do!! If the baby makes it I'll be sure to do a proper photo shoot this weekend!

Whew I'm pooped!!

I'm thinking she might be a touch bigger than the kittens, but not much. She looks HUGE in those photos with her Momma but her Mom is pretty small too. Pygmys are short and as petite as a goat can get!

Wyatt wants to name her Melissa. I think the name is bigger than she is. . .(and I think we watched too much dancing with the stars and the Bachelor. . lol)

Ahh how cute. I love goats we use to raise pygmy's. We had one that looked like your Lele her name was Weedeater. Then we had another one just a tad darker then you Lele and my son named her Deary. I hope both baby and Mom will be ok now.

I don't think they have figured out how to nurse yet. . .Baby is thin but still strong. . .everytime it gets up it tries to nurse but I've yet to see it actually make contact. . Maybe I'm just missing it. . If she's not nursing in front of me this evening I'm going to milk Lele and bottle feed the baby. . .I so don't want a bottle baby!! Lele is being a great Mom now though. She's really attentive and licky everytime the baby moves.

Took my real camera out there, not that it matters. . but I got some photos to show how small she is. Still didn't nurse in front of me. . clock is ticking on colostrum. . Sigh. Not sure what to do about that. . .I'm about to leave the house for about 7 hours. . .sigh.

She's adorable!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats! I love baby goats!

I must say we have a pygmy here that looks exactly like that just darker. Sapphire if full pygmy and is it to a "T". She's the short, stout, fat typical pygmy type. lol :p

Oh and P.S. Wyatt is absolutly adorable, and I love the name!! :p :D

We have officially named her Melissa!!!! She is doing fantastic tonight!!! My hubby just went and did the middle of the night check and he said she is as round as a pumpkin!!! Yay for colostrum!! Of course he didn't wake her up to be sure she was strong but he said she was so fat she looked like she was ruminating. . . so I'm thinking she's good.
