View Full Version : I'm sad. . .

Last week after we lost Lele's babies, I decided I can't handle having babies anymore so I put the girls up on craigslist. I wanted them to go to a home together so I listed them pretty cheap if bought as a pair. They are so attached. So this morning a their new owner is coming to pick them up. They will be going to a place with only an acre but 3 other goats, 2 girls and a wether, so no breeding, and the woman seems very nice. Hopefully if she can't keep them for whatever reason she would bring them back to us. . .but I'm very sad that they are going. I've sold Lele before, but she didn't handle being away from her mother and was brought back. Hopefully this will be a great place for them and they will be loved. I just wish I was the typical farmer/livestock producer and not attached to them. . . but this means we can keep Hercules. (who I also had for sale). So we will be back to 2 goats, the original two, and we'll keep them until they die.
Anyways, just felt like I needed to post this. I'm not going out to say good bye because I have to work. . .which also makes me sad. Sigh.

Aw - I know how you feel, I can't sell critters either, easily. I hope they do well, and you can be at peace about it.

The new home sounds like a good one, so glad they can stay together. I'll be thinking of you today.:)

Thanks guys, they just left. I haven't talked to my hubby yet but I think we'll keep Hercules now. Hopefully, with no girls here, I won't have any more problems!
The woman said Wyatt could come visit Lele & Meg anytime he wanted!

I'm sorry you're feeling down. It's tough to give up an animal, even if it is for all the right reasons and in their best interest! I know you did your very best to find them a great home. I'm sure their new owner will love and care for them and hopefully you'll hear from her if her circumstances ever change.

You know selling animals always makes me cry, but selling an animal to a person that I KNOW will give them a good home often makes me cry tears of JOY. When I sold my mini I just started laughing and crying at the same time. My mom thought I had gone crazy. As we watched the trailer going down the road I just couldn't help myself!! It was such a relief to know she would be in good hands. Now every time I sell or adopt out an animal I know it's worth being picky and finding the right home.

Well I've already had one update!! We had HORRID storms through her tonight and the lady sat in the shed with Lele & Meg to be sure they stayed in there during the worst of it. . I think they are going to be okay! She really wants to buy Hercules though and I'm having trouble deciding on selling him. . I really want to keep him but we are getting another horse out here (boarder) and it would be nice to only have one goat. . . Sigh. What to do, what to do!

It is hard parting with animals for any reason, but it seems like they have a very caring new owner and that she is willing to let you and your family stay in touch. Selling Hercules--is one goat really going to make a difference. I thought you were supposed to keep a minimum of two for company. I had one goat briefly and had to get another for company because he lost his voice crying for a friend.

Yeah, I'd like to keep Hercules. But I feel bad for him because he's a Buck with no girls. . and he would love a whole herd of girls to hang out with. My wether and him like each other okay but they don't stay completely together all the time. He's pretty independent. . so I don't know for sure if he needs a friend or not. He's not going anywhere though because he is my 'guard' goat. lol. He is like a dog and sniffs me out for french fries when we come from town. . .lol

Sounds like the new owner is super. No advice on Hercules--follow your heart!
