Not really a vent, as I'm very amused by the string of neighbors we've had in the 2 years we've lived in this apartment. I could really have done an interesting study of human behavior if I tried hard enough, lol.
When we first moved in, there was a very large "hipster" man directly downstairs who had a Vespa scooter as well as a new VW Beetle. He had a decent taste in music, but slammed the door EVERY time he came or went. It was later discovered the Beetle belonged to his mom.
There was also an older couple who lived downstairs and across the hall from us. They had a Cocker Spaniel and were really nice - we'd talk to them once in a while. Aside from the husband being a little too chatty (nearly made me late for class once), they were harmless. Their kids lived out of state so they were always travelling to see them. One evening, my boyfriend and I were going to rent some movies and there was a guy we had never seen before knocking on their door. When we walked downstairs and past him, he asked us if we knew those people. Specifically, he asked if we knew what the lady looked like. I said I wasn't comfortable answering that (she was very nice and it was weird how he was looking for her...). He persisted and I continued to decline to say anything, and finally he told me I HAD to tell him by law. I laughed and said no, I didn't HAVE to say anything and proceeded to get in my car. When we returned home, the guy was still there, but sitting in a mini van....and there was a court order posted on their door. The next day, the couple moved out. A few months later, we noticed they had moved to the building adjacent to ours. Odd??
After the first guy who lived directly below us, a man who drove a car with Florida plates lived below us. We'd randomly hear him SCREAMING at someone....just yelling and angry. I was tempted to call the police one day, but I think he was just on the phone. Well, we had some people over one night and were listening to music. It was probably at normal conversation volume, but apparently could be heard downstairs. Nothing we wouldn't have been opposed to turning down if asked politely. Well, this guy comes barreling upstairs and just walks right into our apartment and yells at us to turn the music down. Ok. So we do....he goes away. A couple people were outside smoking and he walked back out and told them he can still hear the music. Oook. So we turn it off. He goes inside. Then comes back out AGAIN, fuming saying he can STILL hear it! Umm....dude, we turned it off! Those are the voices in your head you're hearing. ;)
Then we had an Indian couple live below us. They were also pretty harmless, although they'd slam the door once in a while. One random day, they discovered the bass on their stereo and were BLARING rap. These apartments are pretty crappy, so it was shaking our floors and was really annoying to listen to. But it just lasted a couple hours that one day....and they never did it again.
After this couple we had a group of Asian people live there. They drove big white cargo vans - probably 3 in total. There were about 8 people - these apartments are 1 bedrooms and 750sq ft...cramped for 2 people, let alone 8. Well, they smoked inside (against the rules) and cooked a bunch of Asian cuisine every night that caused our apartment to smell like the inside of a Chinese kitchen....that mixed with rank cigarettes....ugh it was gross. They made lots of noise, slammed the doors, and the one lady had OCD - she'd leave and would slam the door a certain number of times before being satisfied and going on her way. We were sooo happy when they finally moved out.
But alas....someone else has just moved in....and these people have an organ.
I kid you not.
AN ORGAN. As in, that piece of musical equipment at a church. I feel like I'm sitting on a carousel right now. My boyfriend says he's been playing it since about 5:30....fantastic. If he doesn't stop soon, I'm going to go down and ask him to stop. It's vibrating our floors and is LOUD. Why you'd think playing an organ in a crappy apartment complex is ok....is beyond me..... But I do think it's funny - an organ?? LOL.
Such strange people!!!
