THank you though JackieB. We took a picture especially for you.

Awwwww, I'm so touched! But then again, maybe I should wait to see it first. :) I trust all of you, but what if HoustonFarrier or Carla gave you some ideas for the photo? I could be in trouble, then. :) :)

You don't have any video of me, do you? I hope not! I looked so terrible at camp, I'd really rather not be seen.

I have some video of Morgan riding Dakota.:) I don't know how to send it to you though. Should I just upload it to photobucket or what?

I do not! I'm furious! All those years of law school, all the effort building a successful legal practice, and I end up with forum friends taunting me with pink on a gelding. :banghead:

I'm glad everyone is back safe and sound. So sorry it didn't work out with Sabin. I was so proud of her for trying. She said it was "cool" though. Her words. I have been trying to get her to join. Right now she doesn't have excess to internet though.

I'm glad everyone had lots of fun. I look forward to hearing everyone's story and seeing your pictures. Welcome back!!

not that long... I can chop out the parts that got too far away (my zoom was being weird:rolleyes:) and then send you the rest tomorrow. so should I upload it to photobucket? I'm reuploading all the pics or I'd just upload it now.
It's taking foreverrrrrrr.

Please tell her we're really sorry we missed her and explain about the unexpected length of that trail ride. I think we showed up only an hour after she'd left. Bad timing.:(

Just thought I'd let everybody know we made it home without a problem. After stopping for fuel and food, we made it home about 10:30 pm. Haven't had a chance to upload any pics, didn't get near dad's computer yet. All in all it was a good trip. There were a few things that I was a little unhappy about, but not a big deal. Lizzy, I hope all is ok, pm me if you want.

Glad you guys made it home safely.:) Thanks again for hauling my boy for me, and also for helping me load him and showing me how. xD

Just curious, what were the few things weren't happy about it? The rain is an obvious one, lol. And I guess that first trail ride didn't go as planned, haha.:innocent:

My biggest thing was being left on the trail. The way I was taught, and every big trail ride I've ever been on, if you seperate cause one part of the group is faster, someone always stops and waits at trail turns. No one ever gets left behind while the rest of the group goes back to camp. The other was actually the fact that there weren't any maps for the trails.

Glad everyone, forum members and horses, got home safe. :)

Girls... did you leave someone behind on trail?? :nono:

Would have been nice to have trail maps, I wouldn't want to go on our trails without them... can mean the difference between an 8, 15 or 25 mile loop!

FatSpottedAppy

I did leave everyone behind, otherwise I'd have to walk with Tyke's nose shoved up Astro's butt the whole time or I would have to stop every two minutes to wait for everyone else to catch up.. So I just decided to go since we both wanted to. And the second time we wanted to take some trails instead of just the road home, so we met up later.

Yes, I think its dumb there was no trail maps, the first trail was a bit disappointing because the ride home was very.. long. It was a nice forest though and I loved the camp grounds.

WashingtonBay

Well, I know some horses like to go... but it IS polite to stay with the group, especially when no one knows the way home for sure, but also for safety.

The camp ground was interesting... I'm not sure I've seen tie stalls like that, and nice that it was sheltered from any rain. Were there several of those around the camp or just the one?

We didn't see pics of 'camp' did we? Were you guys in tents or in your cars or ????

Were there s'mores?

Lakota's Pet

The second time was not the problem. It was the first time, and no one bothered to wait and make sure we found the turn ok. But it doesn't really matter now.

Lakota's Pet
07-20-2009, 07:05 AM
WB there were 6 sets of those tie stalls there. As for camp, the girls stayed in their tents, and dad and I stayed in the trailer. I have a few pics of camp, just haven't uploaded them yet since I'm at work.

I'm sorry, I will keep Tyke's nose shoved next time(if there is a next time.) :)

I think there was five of them? Pete & Jess were in their LQ trailer, Kaitlyn in her car, and Lizzy, Torie, and me in our tents. No s'mores, Lizzy & I went for a night ride and by the time we were back the fire was pretty much gone.

Pretty big camp then. They're pretty cool.

Hubby and I were just talkin'... We're pretty sure we'd not have been able to keep up with a bunch of teenagers on the loose either :p (I think I was one once, but that time has passed!)

Well, I'll look forward to the rest of the pics and videos. :)

Morgan, I'm not mad, it just would have been nice if someone had waited and made sure we found the turn. I'm sorry we ride too slow for you.

We were worried about that, we should have waited. :( at that point we were just so sore.

Then the faster riders turn around and go back to meet up with their friends, not just for safety, but also to visit and enjoy the day. Unless it's agreed upon (e.g. "Go ahead. We'll meet you back at camp").

All's well that ends well. Just one of those things to chalk up to experience.

I completely agree JackieB, and the only reason I brought it up is I think it is something everyone should remember, no matter how small or big the group is. Everyone made it back to camp without a problem, so it wasn't a big deal.

Exactly! Honestly, I would be furious if I were left out on a trail alone... I have a horrible sense of direction and would probably end up lost with SAR out looking for me. The group I ride with always has at least one person hanging way back due to a misbehaving horse and the faster rider (or person with the best behaved horse for the day) goes back to check in with the back rider regularly.

I hope we have as much fun on our WA ride as it looks like you guys did!

FatSpottedAppy
07-20-2009, 09:28 AM
Okay, I understand it was bad we left them alone. I never really thought it would be a problem because three of us went off on our own and another three stayed back and walked, it is not like we just left one person by their lonesome. I said sorry, (we) admitted we were wrong, now can we move on? :)

Thanks everyone for the comments....

But there's hundreds of members than haven't weighed in yet! :)

It's just good discussion about riding in new groups and trying to make sure everyone is accounted for, at this point. I don't think it's an attack on you guys in particular.

Riding with new people changes the dynamic of riding, that's for sure. Brings everyone out of their comfort zone! :)

Hey at least nobody got drunk and sang too loud the whole way, like one of my occasional riding friends does... Sometimes I have to start an argument just to stop the singing! :D Tough choice!

Luckily it was 3 of us that were together, and I'm really good at following tracks. We ended up behind because Oreo's hind feet were starting to bother him on the sharp stones so he was moving slower than the rest of us. So dad and I stayed back to keep an eye on him. But all in all it was fun.
