Tex stands 16 1/2 inches at his shoulder now. Hes only 8 months old, so not sure how much taller he is going to get. Mini Schnauzer??? maybe mixed with??? Who cares, he IS my bud and his place is here forever.
You may remember Lady taking him under her paw when we first got Tex, but he is now best buds with Shyla too. Those 2 are NUTS together outside running. Poor Tex cant keep up with her yet he tries.
Remember this lil guy?

I know, I still go mushy over his baby vids and pics.
He is such a ham though, and knows he IS the lil man of the house, even though he has grown so much.
Oh and those eyes, he still gives that look that just melts your heart.

He's getting so big and cuter by the second! Normally I can't see videos anymore on this computer, I'm not sure why, I hit the watch video and the computer shuts down [I hate this thing but it's a computer to use!]. I have to say I'm not sure if I can watch anymore with Lady in them though, she is so much like my Noah, the same movements, doing the same things he'd do it's almost like they could be siblings and he's still here, I'm sitting here crying for my baby, I miss him more every day, he was such a good and a beautiful dog. Give Lady an extra big hug for me. I'd do anything to have my Noah back.
We have this puppy now and she's cute but I feel like I'm betraying Noah and I have to learn her and she's had Giardia/Coccsidia we can't seem to get rid of and nothing keeps her interested for more than a few seconds, doesn't understand housebreaking and I just miss Noah. I'm sure if we can survive puppyhood she'll be a good dog but I think puppyhood is going to kill me. I swore no more puppies but we have one. ANYWAY enough about my issues, I can't believe how Tex has grown. He is just such a little cutie and he looks very happy with his siblings and I know he loves mommy!

Oursarge((HUGS))I know you love Noah, he was a big part of your life.
Dont think of your pup as a replacement for Noah, just one to help ease the pain.
I got Lady to pre-replace Ruffus who he was my Noah, but looked nothing or acted nothing like Ruffus.
I did hold off getting a dog like Tex for some yrs though, he is my Ruffus in a way.
It is ok to hold on to the love you have for Noah, heck I still have my good bye date to Ruffus on my fridge, and its been yrs sence he was buried. I have a framed picture on my desk. He will not be forgotten but remembered with a huge smile. Everyone loved Ruffus and none of my dogs are trained like he was, well, maybe Tex will, to some degree.
((HUGS))
Tex is loved by everyone, hes such a ham. You should see him at daycare, he is so well mannered, plays with the dogs that will play with him, he respects those that tell him no, yet he got into a good fight once, dog was going to eat him, Tex said oh He!! no your not. I was right there, he didnt get bit, but put up a good defence. He dont take no chit man...LOL He's got that terrier feistiness in him...LOL
That other dog is no longer allowed to play, he is just mean, but Im glad he messed with a dog that would fight him back and make him think....go Tex go...LOL
I so need to get one of our momens on camera. I lay him in my arms and rub his belly and hind legs. All the while we are looking into each others eyes. Very sappy moment.

I can't get over how big Tex is getting! I'm beginning to wonder if he'll ever stop growing!
I love how all three of them share, too! I got a kick out of Tex and Lady coming back together with the toy after you threw it. Does he have any preferences as to which ones he likes best? It's not like they don't have enough of them!
And Shyla sharing her rawhide? Normally, those are a personal dog thing! Cute how she came up and almost licked the camera!
Thanks, Vicky, I was suffereing from withdrawl, lol!

The dogs are very good about sharing. Even if Shyla growls at Tex, he usually ends up with her rawhide..lol
Favorite toys, hmmm, when I am involved in playing it is any toy.
When Tex is crated, it is his Snoopy, or one of two of his torn up toys(torn up cause they are his fav...lol

Thanks Vicklynn, it's been so hard and I think harder because Noah was so good and Deanna is a hard puppy. They are not lying when they say puppy mill puppies are hard. I wish she had been in foster care and had someone who knew what they were doing before I got her. We had a dog trainer who comes to the house but with all the sickness here she hasn't been able to come except for once and some phone calls. Deanna doesn't get housebreaking at all, Noah didn't either at first but he was tiny when I got him, by her age he was housebroken. She was in a cage so she doesn't understand even though she is a smart kid, she can sit like a pro just doesn't get housebreaking! I'm hoping she doesn't have a bladder infection. She goes back to the vet this week, we have a Friday app. but she might go back sooner. Once Noah learned he learned, I'll think she's getting it, she'll go outside then go on the floor 5 minutes after we come in. I'm going crazy! It makes me miss Noah so much more. I can't even look at a picture of him I cry and cry. I know I did the right thing for him but I can't make myself feel better. I know we all lost our beloved dogs and it's never easy, I still grieve for the one I lost in 1973 so I'm a real mess!!!!
I had a Westie yrs ago and couldn't look at Westies 'til a few yrs ago and then decided maye I'd like another. Mandy was a rip too, it's that terrier attitude which I love but it can be trying at times. I will be happy when she's older and hopefully she'll be a good girl like Tex is a good boy. Mandy was very hard to housebreak too but I don't know what else to do, we're doing everything the trainer said and what I knew from before and what I've learned on line and it's still like DUH!
I'm glad Tex held his own at day care. He is just so cute. You have to smile when you look at his face!!!! Hugs to him!

Not sure how old your dog is, but Tex is crate trained too. Are you teaching crate training?
I tell ya, if it werent for that we would be a mess.
He peed on the floor for quite awhile, Id say up to 6 to 7 months, but he has it down pretty pat now.
He likes waking me up with a mini whine, but its enough to let me know its morning and time for the dogs to go out.
Be patient, it'll come around, and you will be a happy momma with a potty trained pup.

Thanks Vicklynn, she is crate trained thankfully! I don't know how we did it without crates! Right now that it the only salvation. She is ready to go out in the a.m. but the thing with her is she gives no hint she needs to go out, we have a bell on the door and supposedly she should ring that, Noah would poke at his leash or the doorknob or he'd stand by the door. She doesn't do anything, we take her out, we ring the bell to show her and we say "Do you want to go outside" trying to make her get it. I'm sort of wondering if she has a bladder problem since she will go twice outside then go on the floor when we get in, I don't understand it. The giardia/coccsidia she has isn't helping matters either, thankfully she normally she does that outside, she just wets the floor but I wish we could get her to make the connection but chances are she never even saw grass before we got her so I know I need to be patient which is a skill I sort of never learned!!!! She is so cute though and we love her we just thought we'd have her housebroken by now. I had the dog before Noah, Koty, housebroken in a day and 1/2, he was almost 5 months old when we got him and he caught on real quick and never made a mistake, he spoiled me with learning so fast, I keep forgetting that Deanna had zero training before we got her so we're really starting with a dog who never learned a thing but she sure learned to sit nicely. Hopefully the doggy trainer can come back soon so we can learn more fun stuff!

A question for you? Excuse me if I mistype, my hands are shaky, got a load of rock in, doing Citys stall area, laying down area and his huge pee area, got tired and needed water, Im so sweaty...LOL
Do you put her in the crate when she pees on the floor, or take her outside then crate her for peeing on the floor?
Ill wait for your answer before I tell you my mistake with Tex, then our revolution,,duh...lol
Some people use the bell, I dont, he knows how to tell me he needs to go. They all do..LOL
That hard look from all, or a whine from Tex will do it every time.
Wow, heat moment, guess a bigger break is needed, plus more water...LOL
Either that or I just took a hot shower and didnt dry off...LOL

Normally I take her outside after her accidents. I say "outside" and we go out. She really doesn't get it though and I don't understand how she can go twice outside then 5 minutes later go on the floor, I'm so worried her bladder is messed up. The dog trainer said she might understand the bell, I'm not sure if she does, sometimes she will ring it and we'll take her out and she'll go but I'm not sure if she really understood the ringing or just happened to hit the bell and since she was outside anyway decided to go!
Hope you are feeling better. I feel like I'm having a heart attack, I am really getting too old for animals! My Colonial Spanish horse used to be so easy to catch but now that he's had shots and needs anti biotics and hoof treatments he takes off running when he sees a lead rope. I had to chase him down twice today, once I got him I sat there for 3 hrs 'til the farrier got here to fix his foot. The vet said to me this a.m. that the animals are supposed to take the stress from me, I said they are only giving me stress right now would he like me to drop them off at his house and he can be stress free with them????? I love them but they are driving me mad. Rompy has never done things like this and that horse can run, I was so mad at him. I talked to his foster mother and she gave me some hints, she said leave him in the round pen and make him depend on me for everything, I would but I'm afraid he'll jump the stupid pen. Hopefully after our session today where I worked with him for a very long time he'll be better next time, we can only hope because he was like a crazy horse and he's never been like that! I am exhausted.

See, that outside thing after peeing on the floor is where I made my mistake with Tex.
If I took him out then crated him he didnt get it, but if I crated him right away, he figured out that pottying on the floor was means for crate, not outside.
When Tex came out of the crate, he went right outside to do his business, then came in for a short time, then back outside, he crated often as a pup just so he knew he had to be a good puppy when out of it.
His crate is his friend, well, his is, he dosnt like Gizzys..lol
You may want to try it, see if it helps.
My dogs go crazy for "outside" "go potty" "go to the horses", then "lets go" for coming in the house.

Oh that makes sense, I will try that. Thank you! She's in her crate now, she was outside playing and went for a walk and now is exhausted, she had a busy day yesterday too so I think she's extra tired. She had one accident today, that was my fault but I did put her out after she had it, next time we'll try the crate. She likes going to see the horses too, they love looking at her but she has no fear and will go right under their feet so I have to watch her closely!
I have a nice wire crate that is a little too big right now, she hated that, she likes the travel crate, it's small but that's what she's most comfortable in so that's where she is now, I think we'll have to get her a bigger one sooner than later, she's gotten taller already in just 2 weeks. She probably won't be more than 20 lbs or so but this crate is sort of small but she can stretch out in it She's 10 lbs now or was 2 weeks ago, she might have lost weight since this bout with giardia/coccsidia. I'm so worried about her, I have a ton of questions for the vet, he's thinking she might have to eat a home cooked diet, I hope not, I hate to cook plus I'm afraid she won't get all the nutrients she needs. I'm hoping if we get rid of the giardia then her intestines will work right. They are so messed up right now. I can't believe I'm going through this with another dog.
