Hi! I'm new and just posted in the welcome forum. WB said I should jump right in and see if there are any other carriage drivers out there.
I started working at a carriage driving farm 2 years ago, before that I rode english and western. While I still do a lot of riding, I have really gotten into the driving! We do pleasure driving.
I started out driving singles, and now drive pairs. I am beginning to learn the basics of driving four horses.
I just got my first horse, he rides and drives, and I'd love to get him into a driving fun show in the fall. Is there anyone else on the forum who drives? I'd love to hear about it and see pictures, of course!

Welcome to the forum! I don't know anything about driving but it's something I would like to learn someday. But, when/if I do it'll probably be with minis.:)

I love driving my farm's mini mare. Her name is Gracie and she is so much fun. She just loves to go, go, go!! We also have a bunch of Friesians at the farm that I drive, as well as other breeds.
My guy, Bullseye, is a QH and really likes driving. He is solid and spook free on the farm, but has spent very little time off the property (he was born on this farm). I need to get him used to the big wide world under saddle before I begin driving him elsewhere.

Beautiful!!!! I love your Clydes, they are so nicely turned out. And your carriage (or wagon, I think, is more appropriate?) is great!
We only have one true draft horse on the farm I work at- he's a Swedish Ardennes, so he's no where near as tall as your team, but every bit as massive. I love his personality.
Do you ever show in Florida?

I used to work for a carriage company that did events, weddings and things with Perches. It was fun, but I had to stop working with the owners, we didn't agree on how the horses should be treated or safety aspects of harnessing and adjusting. Long...long story.. but I learned a lot from them, mostly what not to do. lol But I got experience driving single and double at events.
I want to train my Spotted draft to drive but he's currently in saddle training to ride. Once he has some miles under his belt and is more mature I will start on his driving training again. He wears a harness and ground drives but I don't think hes mature enough to handle driving off the property tell we get some miles under his feet riding. Kinda like with your horse, needs experience before pulling a cart out in the big bad world. lol
Welcome to the forum!:) It's always nice to meet new people on the forum:)

I would love to learn how to drive a horse and carriage (or cart), it is a dream of mine. Your Bullseye is so pretty!! I had the chance to drive a Standardbred once, and it was really a blast, of course I had someone ride along in the cart with me seeing as it as my very first time....but man I loved it!
Looking forward to seeing more of your photos!

Thanks, guys! Sounds like we have quite a few drivers on the board.
I will try and get more pictures of Bull soon, when summer comes it slows down a lot at the barn I board at so there isn't any one to take pictures right now. I'll have to fix that, lol!
Here's one of my current favorites of him. I don't have any others in harness, though.
