As some of you read, my beautiful Giant Schnauzer rescue girl, Payton developed the most aggressive form of bone cancer which she was diagnosed with about 2 months ago. We were told it was fatal and we would be lucky to have two months with her. She had a large tumor on her front leg, which caused her to limp. Today, she refused to put an weight on it, and she was in deep pain. We had to put her down. I've never cried so much. I love that dog to pieces.

We got her back in Feb. 2004 from our local shelter. She was seized from a home where she was one out of the two dogs that survived from not being fed for months. The man had 9 kenneled dogs, 7 which straved to death. Payton only weighed 43 pounds when we got her, she was 89 today. She was timid, afraid to death of yelling and baseball bats, and had a hard time becoming a pet. Over the months she became to fully trust us, never ever barked, didn't jump on people, just a perfect dog. She is a savior to my family in so many ways, I will NEVER forget this dog.

I look forward to seeing her. R.I.P my Payton and good bye.

I'm sorry to hear that grunge, it's never easy. Hugs to you. Remember all the good times with her and how much joy & happiness she brought you guys. She couldn't have had a better person in her life than you, especially after such a crummy start being locked in a kennel. (((((hugs)))))

I'm so sorry, wish it was easier but it's not. I lost my Noah a month ago and I still cry all the time. At least Payton knew love but it's so sad that he wasn't with you longer. Poor baby. I am very very sorry

I am so sorry, Grunge. Payton actually looks like our old girl, Kodi, who passed away last Spring.. Only Kodi was white, but she looked so much like her..

RIP Payton. You were a beautiful girl and you had absolutely amazing owners...

Thanks everyone. Yeah its still very very hard. Especially when we buried her, she was in the trunk of my mom's mini van in a bag which really got me choked up. Since before she got cancer that is where she always sat when she went on her hundred car rides. She used to come with us boating and hiking and seeing her in a bag in her spot was really really hard. My sister is having a very hard time with it and so is the whole family. My sister has been sleeping walking which she does when she is stressed out, she walks downstairs in the middle of the night calling Payton's name and saying she's lost. It's really hard to watch. But my mom can't handle not having a dog, we have found a few Giant Schnauzers at local rescues who were also abused. We are going to go visit them later in a few weeks.
