Does anyone here own one? Wondering about quality in materials and workmenship as well as longevity.
I've been checking around for different saddles and I for some reson keep coming back to this one although I also like the Big Horn Wade tree saddles.:cowboy:

I would also like input on Chicks Saddlery if anyone has dealt with them. They drop ship direct from the maker.

I looked at one that was for sale. I did not care for the workmanship of this brand.

I dont like where your fenders and stirrups sit in comparision to where the cinch will be. And the swell is awful low. Which would mean you're going to be very vulnerable to being thrown easily forward.

Silver Royal saddle is around $800
I've also looked at the Billy Cook Wade Ranch Saddle FQHB 2182
http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp347/sparrowhawkfarms/billycook.jpg
Billy Cook's is $1,400
Also Circle Y and Craig Cameron have saddles that are wade tree and sililar in looks.
The Circle Y has a flap that covers the cinch area totally.... About $1,800
Craig Cameron's saddle covers most of the cinch and is $2,000

silver royals are cheap made "name brand" saddles with high price tag and they dont' fit alot of horses and you ahve to watch the angles of the bars

I don't know anything about roping saddles, but that first one looks like a combination of a roping/barrel saddle????

That looks like my old Johhny Ruff saddle (saddle maker here.. he's amazing).. the downside was, with riggings, it was upwards of 75 lbs and after I broke my back I couldn't ride unless Bobby was here to put my saddle on for me:(

Silver Royals are manufactured primarily in India. The workmanship is not that great, the leathers are not premium, and sometimes the trees don't feel balanced when given the "sit" test.
I was working for a saddle distributor and we ordered a few of the Silver Royals as a lower cost saddle and ended up sending them back because of the lack of overall quality. If it were me, I'd look for a good, used Billy Cook or Colorado.

in doing some further investigation (I like doing my homework) I've pretty much settled on either a Billy Cook or Craig Cameron Saddle. Of course I will need to save up for it, but I think I'm on a better track.:cowboy:

Good job Peggy Sue. One point about Billy Cook Maker out of Sulphur, is the serial number can also be found on the skirt under the stirrup leather. The first two digits are the year the saddle was made. The style number is on the latigo keeper.
