All4Grace's thread got me thinking about prostate cancer and I remembered that Durango (Durangogramma) hubby just went through surgery. I was wondering if anyone has heard from her since this thread?

All4GRACE....I was going to recommend you contact her, she might have some insight that could help you with Tony's surgery and recovery. I'm sure it is not easy for her to share everything with us but it may help her if she can share with someone who is also has a loved one dealing with this.

I talked to her through email last Friday I believe. She said it had been 4 weeks and they were getting by. Sounds like her hubby is doing well after the surgery. Recovering and regaining strength. And they are just praying the surgery is the cure. She said they don't go back to the Doctor until December.

Thanks you "guys" *L*. Hanging in there is about all we can do right now. Thanks for thinking of us and praying. We need lots.
Tomorrow is 5 weeks from surgery and Dave is still healing... Runs out of steam and takes several naps during the day. He's slept in the bed (instead of the recliner) for about 4 nights now. He's happy to be able to lie flat again. He's walking several miles total in 3 or 4 jaunts each day. Though yesterday he overdid it and was in quite a bit of pain last night. I'm trying to talk him into a short car ride somewhere tomorrow. Both sitting for long periods and riding in the car (actually the Durango 'cuz I don't think he could even get in or out of the car) cause him discomfort. I think it might be good to get out and see something besides the inside of the house or the block across the street (walking around it) would be good for the spirit.
We're still trying to learn more about the treatment options including adding a naturopathic or nutritional component to what is available otherwise. Frankly the odds are way against us but it ain't over 'til it's over.

Glad that you are keeping a positive outlook! That can never be wrong! THank you for taking the time for an update. Hopefully you guys do get out and he is able to at least get some fresh air without overdoing it and get to see something new.

I miss you Durango... and will keep up the prayers and reiki. I love your "it ain't over 'til it's over" attitude - you are so right - we hear or read about miracles all the time. A lot of my Dynamite friends use the saying "expect a miracle" in their signatures... I think there's a difference between hoping and just out right expecting it! I'll be expecting a miracle for your hubby.:)

All the best to you. I think keeping your attitude as positive as you can will be of great benefit to you both.
I lost my mom to Cancer, so I do not take lightly the risk you're facing, but I didn't lose her without a good fight that I KNOW prolonged her life. She lived every moment she could, she took trips, she didn't wait to get better. The weekend before she died she went to a Jazz festival. She got a little tired and had to nap in the car for a bit now and then, but she went.
So have a good weekend drive somewhere. And keep having them.

Glad to hear that you are both hanging in there and that Dave is able to get up and at least go on some short walks. I know that it has been a long 5 wks for him and you, too. Best wishes to you both.
