Here is the link to the origianl thread if you were following it and wanted to review it http://www.baywindfarm.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7584

I will try to make a long story short. I was putting out water and food for the momma and when the kittens were old enough they bagan to come over and get food and water. Shortly after the kittens were coming when I was putting the food and water out ... the momma moved them. One kitten was left behind and I thought the momma would probably get it moved too but she never did but continued to come and take care of the baby.

I have continued to put food and water out for the momma and kitten and I did find the other kittens but they were on another property that I don't have access to and I didn't know if momma would move them back where the food and water was being supplied (that's what I was hoping for). For a few days the Tabby kitten was back but then gone again and hasn't been back and now I don't see them anywhere on the other property from looking over the fence.

The baby has had another adult cat hanging out with it when the momma is gone so maybe a sister to the momma. Well, when I put the food and water down the kitten comes running and starts chowing down as if it's starving and it's just skin and bones. The kitten allows me to pet it while it's eatting but I never tried to pick it up. I would stay there for awhile until he/she ate all that it could which wasn't much then it would go back into the ivy and sleep.

I wanted to rescue the kitten right at the same time I ended up with an unexpected house guest for the past three weeks (an old friend's brother). Anyway, he finaly left on Sunday and when I went out yesterday to put food down the kitten didn't come which there are some days it doesn't and I had continued to keep putting down the food and water just couldn't rescue it until houseguest was gone.

Finally, today I was able to get it and it was so hungry it came running and eatting as fast as it could. The kitten is so underdeveloped and skinny I had to get it and bring it in. Hopefully I did the right thing and I hope I didn't wait too long.

I plan to get it healthy, socialized and have it spayed/nuetered myself then find a loving home for it. The kitten is eatting some and now crying so I feel bad for taking it but I don't think it would have lived too much longer outside because in it's condition I think the audults were eatting and drinking most of what I have been putting down. It's getting into triple digits again and the kitten is already dehydrated and weak. I Pay I'm doing the right thing and not misjudging the situation.

I will get pic's after awhile, I don't want to put it through anymore trauma right now.

BTW, my momma kitty is mad at me now ... will she take to the kitten? It is set up in a cage right now so momma kitty can't hurt it and so it will be contained to where I can get it healthy.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Stacy

Good luck to you, I'm sure baby is in good hands.

The only thing I would suggest is not letting your momma cat near the baby until baby gets a clean bill of health from the vet. It would be a shame to accidentally risk infection (ie Feline Leukemia). WB has lots of experience with these "monsters", hopefully she'll chime in.

Probably not a bad idea to keep them isolated form each other ountil you get a chance to get the kitten checked over, like spotsmom said.

A good idea woud be to put the kitten on a vitamin supplement like Nutri-Stat. Some pet stores carry it, or you can get it from your vet.

If the kitten's way too dehydrated, and won't drink enough fluids, you may have to take it for a vet vist sooner than you think for IV or subcu fluids.

And come to think of it, where is WB with her traditional "monster!"?:)

Sorry - I was out being touristy with the inlaws ;)

Monster! :p

Kitten probably needs good food and probably is loaded with worms. I would probably get it vetted sooner rather than later so you can get it tested for FIV and Leukemia, and get some wormer in it.

Absolutely you did the right thing... and momma will be getting pregnant again, and the babies. The more you can catch, the better! :)

Thank you for the good advise, I will see if I can get the kitten in to the Vet ASAP and I will keep my momma kitty away but she already stays away from the cage ... she stays back then hisssses at the kitten so I make her leave the office.

Here are a couple of pic's but even with the flash you really can't see the kitten very well and disregard the date I forgot to set it to the proper date after the last charge.
