So out at the barn today, I noticed that Angel was acting a little funny? I just got back last night from Washington D.C after 5 days so it was good to see her..BUT ANYWAYS!

The whole time I was out there, she was kind of drooling and foaming at the mouth? It was so ODD. She never does that! She was still eating and drinking, and she did not have a runny nose nor did she have dihharea (sp?) so I'm at a loss.

Can anyone help? I mean...I just don't know what it is?

(BTW: The temperature was HOT today, around 85-90 I think? But take this in mind, THAT IS EXTREMELY HOT for Colorado!)

was she out in a pasture? Clover makes horses slobber a lot if she was eating that

I'm voting clover as well. All three of ours will do this from time to time, when they get into some.. but only you are there to see her- follow your gut. :)

While clover could be the problem, it would still be a good idea to lift her lip and just take a look at her gums and tongue if possible. Note any discolored, raw or raised areas. Also check around her coronary bands for any round sores. Taking her temp in the morning to check for a fever should also be done.
You could be dealing with just something she ate like clover, foreign bodies like burs could irritate the mouth or there could actually be infectious issues.

Well I WAS in the Arena with her and she was eating some plants that were just on the other side of it, and now thinking about it I think that's what it might be!

What does it look like though? If I could have a picture that would help A LOT MORE! :)

Well here's a link to a pic of white clover. I believe it's the one I hear most about causing slobbering but there may be more. We have LOTS of it here in GA.. when the little white flowers bloom they have a sweet smell. The patches are great for finding 4-leaf clovers, too. :)

Is the horse still having a problem? If so, it might be time to call the vet!

Vet was out at the barn today taking care of another horse! He came over, told him all the syptoms, told me that it probably was just something she ate, or maybe even licked some fly spray and that triggered it.

But he said she is A-OK! :) So were in the clear!
